SB-7 SINGLE BAND TRANSCEIVER 7MHz

I would like to share some inside views and also like to have some critics to comment on our new upcoming project SB-7 Transceiver which is a single band 40 meter transceiver in S.S.B. mode (LSB only).

This upcoming Transceiver project is an improved version of our previous TRx project - JOTA TRx. The changes and enhancements for this TRx. would be: AUDIO FILTERAGC CONTROL,S-METER Mike Gain adjustments. The MAX Power of this Transceiver is 15 Watts. We will be updating this page and blog quite often so please take time and keep checking in for updates.

A small preview of the schematics and components used have been shown below:

  1. The front-end amp appears to be the classic broad-band amp (in most ARRL HBs) the author (DEV) introduced me to - many years ago....
However, we could perhaps reduce the Rx drain on the PSU (portable-operation in mind) by feeding the BPF to the DBM, and make the pre/post filter amps (2x BJTs) tuned - to make-up for the lost-gain (among others). Just my thoughts - as a critic.

On the positive side: Yes this is a great project for the VU beginner - without spending $$$ - and, without the hassles of winding tuned-coils. Keeping it plain and simple, and most importantly - repeatability.....
    Kudos, sir !
